Shimoga Institute of Medical Science (SIMS) is an autonomous institution of Government of Karnataka which was started in the year of 2005 in the city Shimoga. The institute covers a total land area of 50 Acres. It is affiliated by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore and approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI). SIMS offers Doctorate of Medicine (MD) courses in the field of Anatomy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Physiology and Preventive & Social Medicine and Diploma courses in the field of Operation Theatre Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Records Technology and Ophthalmic Technology. The admissions under institute are based upon the State and National Level Entrance Tests. The institute provides Central Library facility for students in which 30 Periodic Section, 25 Audio Visual Section and 200 Text Book Reference Section etc. are available.
